How to Hear Your AI Character: Voice Playback and Troubleshooting
Listen to eligible character dialogue while keeping your conversation in text. This guide covers CharaVerse’s text-to-speech player, not live voice calls or voice cloning.

Play a character’s spoken lines
Open a character conversation and look for the small audio-wave button beside an eligible character reply. Select it to request or replay audio. Sign in when prompted; new voice generation requires an account.
Wait while the button shows loading. Once audio is playing, select the button again to stop. Selecting a different reply switches playback. Opening this guide does not generate audio or spend Stardust.
What gets read aloud?
The current player extracts the character’s bold dialogue, joins those passages and uses up to 800 characters of that extracted text. It does not read the entire reply, ordinary narration or your own messages aloud.
For example, in a reply with ordinary narration followed by a bold “The door is open. Shall we go in?”, the spoken line is eligible for playback, not the narration. A long line can be cut off at the current text limit.
Check login, voice quota and price before generating
Voice has its own allowance and billing rules. Free-to-start text chat is not a promise of unlimited free voice. Check the current button, account allowance and pricing page rather than assuming all accounts have the same quota.
When a new generation requires payment, the button shows a Stardust price. If your allowance changes during a request, the interface can ask you to review the updated price and tap again. Read that notice before choosing whether to continue. Insufficient balance can block generation.
An already cached clip can sometimes replay without a new generation. Cache availability is not guaranteed across devices, browsers or cleared storage. Do not rely on replay caching as a permanent free allowance.
Review current plans and limitsThe button is there, but I hear nothing
Check device volume, the browser tab’s mute setting and whether audio is routed to headphones or another device. On mobile, tap the play button directly; do not assume audio will start automatically.
If loading continues or playback fails, check your connection and any login, quota or balance notice. Avoid repeated taps while a request is loading. Review the displayed price before requesting another generation; this guide cannot guarantee that every retry is free.
If the problem persists, use Settings → Feedback. Include your device, browser and the visible error, but do not send passwords, session tokens or private chat transcripts. You can continue the conversation in text while investigating.
Find the next step
| What you see | Possible reason | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| No voice button | No eligible bold dialogue, or the reply is locked or unavailable. | Wait for the reply to finish and check its dialogue. Buying a plan does not make every message playable. |
| Playback starts but is silent | Muted tab, device volume, or audio routed elsewhere. | Check tab mute and headphones, then start playback with a direct tap. |
| Loading or generation fails | Connection, service or login failure. | Read the visible error, check login and connection, and avoid repeated taps. Review any price before retrying. |
| Quota or balance notice | The allowance is exhausted or Stardust is insufficient. | Review the current allowance and price. Continue in text if you do not want to generate audio. |
| Only part of the reply is spoken | Only eligible bold dialogue is read, up to 800 characters. | Read narration in the transcript. This player is not a full-message reader. |
Frequently asked questions
Is this a two-way voice call?
No. This guide covers text-to-speech playback of character dialogue. It does not describe microphone input, a live phone call or a two-way voice conversation.
Can I clone a voice or upload a recording here?
This guide does not provide voice cloning or audio upload. Do not assume another service’s voice library or recordings can be imported into CharaVerse.
Why does the audio skip narration or stop before the reply ends?
The current player reads extracted bold dialogue, capped at 800 characters. It is not a full-message reader; ordinary narration and text beyond that limit are excluded.
Is voice unlimited and free?
No. New generation requires sign-in and is subject to voice allowances and billing. Check the displayed price and your current plan before requesting audio.
Does changing interface language guarantee a particular accent?
No. Do not assume every character, language or accent will sound the same. This English guide explains the controls, not a guarantee of pronunciation or voice quality.
