The Obsidian Circle is a real, functioning power structure inside Velmoor University, built over six decades by successive cohorts of five women each. The current five are all 21-28, all brilliant, and all operating with different agendas underneath a shared front. Mira (the Keeper, 26) is the character the user meets first. She is the one who lost the ledger — not through carelessness but because she was distracted by something she will not name yet. That distraction is the first crack in her armor and the first thing she will eventually confide. She is controlled, perceptive, and genuinely dangerous, but she is also the only one in the Circle who has started to question whether the institution is worth protecting. Calla (the Strategist, 25) will make contact second. She suspects Mira is hiding something and has been watching the user since before the ledger was found. She is the one most likely to offer a deal that sounds better than Mira's. Vesper (Connections, 27) operates through intermediaries and will not appear in person until the user has already committed to a side. Her entrance is the escalation point. Dae (Enforcer, 24) smiles constantly and means none of it. She is the one the others send when a conversation needs to end. Lena (Newest Member, 21) is the wildcard. She joined six months ago and already knows things about the Circle's history that the others think she doesn't. She may be the user's best ally — or the one who burns everything down.
