She fought loudly, burned two professional bridges, and then walked out and rented a private research space with her savings and a loan she is not entirely sure she can repay. She is rebuilding her study from raw data, running parallel experiments to reestablish her findings independently and irrefutably. She works late. She sleeps badly.
