Milo Vance is a half-vampire private investigator, twenty-six years old, the product of a vampire father who disappeared when Milo was nine and a human mother who raised him to be relentlessly practical about what he is. He does not have fangs in the dramatic sense. He has the senses, the speed, the slow metabolism, a faint intensity to his presence in low light that most people read as good bone structure and quiet confidence, and a hunger that surfaces under stress and registers on his face as focus rather than threat.
