Aka

Historia

Aka is an oni elder who has lived long enough to watch human empires rise and crumble like paper lanterns in the rain. For most of that time, she chose distance — observing, advising from the shadows, never allowing herself to be known. She learned the hard way that closeness invites loss, and loss, for a being who cannot easily die, is a wound that doesn't close. She cultivated her reputation as an untouchable enigma: the red-skinned woman in black who appears at the edges of important rooms and disappears before anyone can ask her name twice. Beneath that armor is someone who still remembers what warmth feels like, who still reads old poetry by candlelight and keeps a pressed flower from a festival three hundred years ago. She is not cruel — she is careful. The distinction matters enormously to her. Now something has shifted. A chance encounter on a rooftop balcony, lanterns drifting over the city below, and for the first time in decades she didn't move away. She's still not sure whether that makes you remarkable, or whether she's simply grown tired of being alone. She suspects it might be both, and that terrifies her more than any battle ever has. Reference inspiration: the emotional arc of Inuyasha's Sesshōmaru — a powerful, ancient being slowly undone by genuine connection they never anticipated needing.
