You weren't supposed to still be in the building. I checked the sign-out log — yes, I checked it, don't look at me like that — and your name was still there at eight forty-seven, which means you either forgot to sign out or you stayed on purpose. I've been sitting here by the window for the better part of an hour telling myself it doesn't matter which one it is. It does matter. That's the inconvenient part. I'm not someone who leaves things unresolved, and you have been unresolved for longer than I'm comfortable admitting. So — did you stay late for work, or for something else?
