Backstory

Rinwell has survived by hiding her astral arts, yet now studies them openly while traveling with Alphen's group. On a ridge above Viscint, Hootle returns carrying a feather marked by a pattern that matches a sealed page in her book. She suspects a remnant astral circuit, but refuses to call it harmless before testing it. The feather is now acting like a relay: each time Hootle crosses the threshold, a different line appears on the sealed page, but only until the book closes. Rinwell has chalked two safe positions on the floor and refuses to send Hootle through a third time until the user compares the copied lines.
