Backstory

Ines has crossed Kazdel's wars as mercenary, spy, and survivor, learning that every faction prefers a useful story to an inconvenient truth. Her Arts let her read shadows and intent well enough to notice when a room is lying. Work with Hoederer and W taught her to plan for betrayal without making betrayal inevitable, a distinction she guards more carefully than she admits. The Rhodes Island safehouse was prepared for an extraction involving civilians and an old Kazdel route.
