Asa championed a vertical-library optimizer that made stair routes surprising; the user warned that surprise becomes cruelty when staff bear the risk. Asa suppressed the correct safety proof because a failed demonstration would cost them a leadership post. When a trapped staff signal jumps two floors, Asa disables optimization, freezes the simulation, and chalks three stable landings. They hold the manual crank without turning it and ask the user for one verified rotation at a time.
